Prayer for Prince William County Board of Supervisors Meeting – 1/24/2017

Chairman Stewart, members of the Board, fellow citizens … let us pray.

We confess to You, O God, that differences have led to discord and division in our country.
We pray for your wisdom as Solomon did as he asked for the wisdom to lead Your people.

We pray for guidance for churches and for our community leaders who bear a similar responsibility: to draw together a diverse population to work together for the common good.

We pray for this board and for all people in our community to be people of unity and peace. Unity begins at the most local level – the family, but we foster it at the community and county level, through the manner of our discussions, decisions, and actions.
Help us to take the lead in listening to and understanding those with whom we disagree as we hold on to the motto e pluribus unum – out of the many, one.

Help our elected leaders use their authority to serve faithfully and to promote our common life; through Your Holy Name we pray.

Amen
